Shirley Burdick This has been a long difficult road for me. Thirty years ago I had chronic yeast infections for 2 solid years. I went to the OB/GYN crying asking why I kept getting them and all he could tell me was \”I don\’t know. I only know how to treat it\” So for 2 years I was either on the medication or had a full blown yeast infection. You could only get the medication by prescription at that time. I was sharing this with a friend of mine and she recommended I go to Dr. Sherry Rogers and talk with her. She diagnosed me at that time with leaky gut syndrome and yeast overgrowth and put me on a yeast free, grain/refined sugar/dairy free diet. However, I have never had the full support of my husband in this area. Unwilling to cook 2 meals every night I struggled on, just holding these yeast infections at bay. Avoiding these foods whenever possible but totally addicted to sugar so it was a constant struggle to stay on the diet. I gained a lot of weight and could not lose it with the yo-yo dieting I\’ve always done. Recently, I thought \”I\’m killing myself\”! I had developed many illnesses (including a seizure disorder from aspartame). I also got a Lap band – which was only a very temporary fix and I gained the weight back that I lost. 1 1/2 years ago I went to another nutritionist to get myself back on track. She took me completely off gluten/refined sugar/and dairy. I have lost 60 lbs and remain 98% gluten, refined sugar and dairy free. I am now discovering many other foods I am unable to tollerate. I started this by going through my kitchen and removing all foods I cannot to eat. Then stocked up on foods I can eat. My husband is so proud of me but I still don\’t have his full support with this diet. He wants his goodies (even though he struggles with health/weight issues too) I try to have foods in the house that are for him that I am not tempted to eat and am very careful about what I order out. I have kept this weight off for one year now and still have 15 more lbs to lose to be the ideal weight according to the Mayo Clinic. Hopefully soon. Most importantly, I feel much better and more energetic. I imagine this sugar addiction will be a constant struggle for me. Thank you so much for your help with this and the recipes that are available to me on your site.

Dear Whitney, You have been so very encouraging throughout this issue. Your delicious/nutritious recipes have encouraged us to stay on the straight and narrow path to healing. Our biggest challenge has been taking something with us in our travel cooler so that when we are out and about through out our weekly duties, to eat just what we brought and not be tempted with goodies that we see while shopping and getting tired and hungry. Once in while we do get off our path and find that we do not feel well in many areas of our bodies. This is our warning to get back to our basics and continue to fight this. We are 95% back to our healthy selves and will continue this diet to stay strong and feel younger each day. We love you Whitney, and pray for you, and your followers.
