Meal Planning for the Candida Diet

Finding the right recipes to help you meal plan on the yeast free Candida Diet can help you save time, energy and money on the candida cleanse. Investing a couple extra dollars on the front end for a good Candida Diet Cookbook will pay dividends as you jump into a new and limited eating schedule.

In addition to a Candida Diet cookbook, here are the top things I do to prepare whenever I am planning to do the yeast free candida diet cleanse:

Clear the cabinets – getting rid of all the sugary and yeasty foods BEFORE starting your diet cleanse will help keep you from having a weak moment with a sugary treat. Remove the temptations including all dairy, anything with sugar, fruit, and all products that contain yeast.

Make a list – write out your grocery list before heading to the store. Focus on fresh vegetables and lean (organic) meats as your staples. Most prepackaged foods contain preservatives that you will need to avoid on this diet so plan ahead. Look online at different yeast free recipe ideas or spend a few bucks for a candida diet cookbook and meal planning guide that you can use to help you shop.

Meal preparation – food items like vegetables can be prepped in advance to save you some cooking time later on. In addition, making a double portion that can be eaten at a later meal will save you valuable time over cooking something new for every single meal. If I write down which recipes I am going to use for each meal it helps me plan for leftovers and meal preparations in advance.

Get my baseline – I find it motivating when I can see actual progress when I am on the diet. To do that I take the online candida test to get an idea how I would rate my symptoms at the beginning of the diet before I start. I can then go back throughout the diet and take it again to see if my symptoms have improved based on my score each time. Sometimes it is little things like that that make you realize how far you have come.

Find some support – it is tough to feel like you are doing something alone. The fact is that there are thousands of other people who have used this diet and found relief from aggravating symptoms like gas and bloating, recurring yeast infections, brain fog, joint pain, depression, irritability, ongoing sugar cravings, headaches and recurring illness. If you have a supportive spouse or significant other that will do the diet along with you that is a great start. You can also find a supportive forum online at our Facebook page where thousands of others ask questions, share advice and provide support.

The first time I tried the yeast free diet I remember going to the grocery store and spending a couple hours reading labels. I filled my cart with all the yeast free items I could find without much thought about what specific meals I was going to make with all the ingredients I had purchased, but I felt excited to start the cleanse.

It wasn’t long before I started to get behind. Cooking for the whole family and thinking through all the candida diet restrictions was literally taking me hours each day. I found a couple recipes that were easy and I got into a rut making the same thing each day.

The extra work of cooking from scratch along with not feeling very good and being without some of my favorite comfort foods was too much for me and I ended up calling it quits before I should have. I thought I had planned and knew what I was doing but the reality of it was that I hadn’t thought through what meals I would make, what ingredients I needed for those meals and I hadn’t done any preparation to make it easier on myself.

After that first failure I began compiling a list of recipes into a Candida Diet cookbook that I use as a reference and meal planning guide whenever I do the candida diet cleanse. It is something that has been an invaluable resource for me and I wouldn’t think of tackling this diet without it ever again.

Proper planning can make all the difference between success and failure on the yeast free candida diet. Planning your meals in advance using a Candida Diet cookbook like mine can really take away a large burden and allow you to focus on feeling better. To read more about what is included in my Candida Diet Cookbook & Meal Planning Guide or to grab your copy simply follow the link below.

http://www.theyeastdiet.com/yeast-diet-ebook.html

I hope you can take advantage of the resources on this site and our Facebook page to realize success and health with the yeast free candida diet.

Blessings,

Facebook Timeline Layout

Many of you who use Facebook regularly have probably already started using or have at least seen the new “Timeline” layout. As of March 30, 2012 Facebook will be changing all business pages (including our yeast free recipes Candida Diet page) over to the new timeline format automatically.

I wanted to send out a quick note to let you know how this will affect you and change the way you find information on the Facebook page for those of you who use that resource.

Timeline Cover

The first thing you will notice is a new cover design as a header for the site. Again, if you are using this feature on your personal page you are already aware of this feature. A nice header will help spruce up the page a bit.

Top Level Information

Underneath the new cover (or page header) is the information about the company including links to the main site as well as recent images and the total number of page “Likes”.

The Share Status Box

The status share button where you can ask questions and post feedback is just underneath the “About” section in the “Highlights” portion of the timeline. I want to make sure that everyone knows where this is as your continued sharing is what makes the community beneficial for so many people that are looking for advice. I don’t want the layout changes to affect how you share or interact on the page and with others.

Finding Information on the Timeline

The information and individual posts will be consolidated into a box titled “Recent Posts by Others…”, also underneath the “Highlights section of the timeline. This basically shows you the first sentence of the last 15 or so posts and if you see something that interests you you can click through to read the full post and see the comments or add your own.

When you click through it brings up the posts into a format that is similar to the old layout so you can still scroll down through old posts and comments like before.

Previous Posts

Outside of the sections above you can scroll through old posts and information all the way back to the beginning of the site. The further you scroll down the older the posts with the most important posts from the past showing first.

The new layout can be a positive move for a site like ours in that it makes it easier in many ways to go back and look up previous information without having to scroll through pages and pages of content. I think once you get used to the differences you will enjoy the layout.

March 30, 2012 is when the new site will go live unless I decide to go ahead and switch it over before then so everyone can get used to it. I would love to hear your thoughts on the new timeline design!!!

~Whitney

Knowing how your symptoms line up with the most common symtoms associated with yeast overgrowth can give you a good idea whether what you are experiencing may be yeast related.

While it is not a replacement for medical advice the candida test is helpful for tracking your symptoms before and during your yeast cleanse. After answering a series of questions you will receive your score and the average score of everyone who has taken the candida test. You can use this number to track your progress. You can retake the test as often as you like to watch your yeast number drop as your symptoms improve.

Take the Free Candida Test Here

Many times it is hard to feel like you are making progress and the candida test will give you a good way to see your results and stay motivated as you complete your yeast free diet cleanse. This free online candida test will help you assess whether yeast may be your issue and allow you to track the progress of your results.

This recipe comes at the request of one of the members of the Candida Diet facebook page for an Asian style recipe to use on a yeast free Candida Diet. Enjoy!

Crock Pot Chicken with Asian Vegetables

- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves

- 1 can sliced bamboo shoots, drained and rinsed

- 1 can baby corn, drained and rinsed

- 1 can sliced water chestnuts, drained and rinsed

- 3/4 cup vegetable stock, divided

- 1 tablespoon cold pressed olive oil

- Sea salt

Heat the cold pressed olive oil over medium in a medium-large skillet. When the oil is nearly smoking, add the chicken breast halves, and brown well on both sides. Add the browned chicken to the crock pot.

Combine the vegetables in a large bowl, add 1/4 cup vegetable stock, and mix well. Top the chicken evenly with the vegetable mixture. Add the remaining 1/2 cup vegetable stock to the skillet, and heat while scraping up the residue from the bottom of the pan. Add the entire mixture to the crock pot. Cover, and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours, or on high for 4 to 5 hours. Season to taste with sea salt at the end of the cooking time.

Substitute the vegetables used to meet specific diet requirements or to add some variety. Braggs Liquid Aminos can be used in place of soy sauce.

For more delicious yeast free recipes grab my complete collection called The Yeast Diet Cookbook & Meal Planning Guide.

Like many people I used to suffer from recurring yeast infections due to yeast overgrowth in my system, but in 2006 I decided enough was enough. After my first failed attempt at the diet due to poor planning I tackled it again after planning my steps and organizing my meals in advance. The second time was a success and I haven’t had the recurring yeast infections since!

Gas and bloating is a pretty common issue for those suffering from Candida yeast overgrowth. According to a recent poll it is the number one yeast related issue followed by recurring yeast infections, fatigue and joint / body aches.

A healthy balanced diet can go a long way toward reducing gas and bloating as well as other common symptoms associated with yeast overgrowth but a cleanse may be necessary to really get the yeast under control and get the body back in balance.

To reduce gas and bloating it is important to follow a yeast free Candida Diet to stop the yeast overgrowth and re-balance the natural systems within the body. To do that simply eliminate sugar in any form (including fruits), all yeast, fermented products (vinegar and vinegar containing foods) and dairy. Anti-fungal supplements are often used in addition to a yeast free diet to cleanse the body of excess yeast. The typical cleanse lasts anywhere from three to six weeks although for some suffering with chronic symptoms a yeast free diet may take longer to show results.

The common symptoms of yeast overgrowth including gas and bloating don’t have to be a constant problem. Instead of covering up the symptoms with medication try a natural cure for gas and bloating to help solve the problem and get back to healthy living.

Since many people who are yeast free also have a gluten intolerance, I wanted to post a recipe for a gluten free flour mix to go along with a yeast free bread recipe.

This is a new yeast free, gluten free bread recipe that I am working to refine for inclusion in the Yeast Diet Cookbook & Meal Planning Guide so your feedback and comments are appreciated.

Yeast Free Flour Mix

- 1 cup brown rice flour

- 1 cup sorghum flour

- 1 cup buckwheat flour

- 1 cup millet flour

- 1-1/3 cup tapioca flour

- 2/3 cup white rice flour

Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Use a large whisk to thoroughly blend the flours. Store in a container with a tight fitting lid, or in a large Ziploc freezer bag in the freezer.

Yeast Free Healthy Loaf

- 3 cups yeast free flour mix (listed above)

- 2 tablespoons Rumford brand baking powder

- 3 teaspoons guar gum

- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

- 1-1/2 to 2 cups distilled water

- 3 eggs, separated

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl, and mix well. Separate the eggs. Beat the whites to stiff peaks that are still a bit soft, and reserve. Add the yolks to the 1-1/2 cups water and mix well. Add the guar gum to the egg and water mixture, and use an electric mixer to blend until smooth. The mixture will thicken quickly, due to the guar gum.

Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients. Add up to 1/2 additional cup of distilled water, if needed. When the mixture is smooth, gently fold in the beaten egg whites.

Grease and flour a 9″ x 5″ loaf pan. Use cold pressed olive oil and a couple of tablespoons of the flour mix. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for about 45 to 50 minutes, on the middle oven rack, or until a skewer or toothpick comes out fairly clean, but it may have a few crumbs clinging. Cool in pan on a rack for about 20 minutes. Then remove from pan and leave on rack until completely cool.

Meal planning for a yeast free Candida Diet is a challenge to say the least. My first attempt at the yeast free diet was a flop primarily because I did not plan ahead and I ended up starving without a clue what to eat! The truth is there are lots of delicious foods that you can enjoy during a yeast free cleanse but if you don’t plan ahead the Candida Diet can feel overwhelming.

I like to write my meals down in advance for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and then I can use that list to grocery shop and prepare in advance of starting the yeast free diet. You can grab a copy of my 3 Week Meal Plan at the link below for an example of how you can plan your meals and avoid getting stuck in a hunger spiral.

Planning For The Yeast Free Diet

Planning for a yeast free diet is one of the most important things you can do to ensure a successful cleanse. Lack of proper planning can lead to cheating on the diet, inadequate meal planning and even quitting too soon.

How To Avoid Cheating On The Yeast Free Diet

At about two weeks from the start of your diet start using up any food items that you know won’t be allowed for your upcoming cleanse. This would include sugars and sweeteners, vinegar based products, yeast including foods made with yeast, dairy products, fermented foods, alcohol in any form, processed or boxed meals and fruit.

Start eliminating these items and don’t replace them as you do your shopping. Focus on fresh food purchases like vegetables and meats (organic when possible) and stay away from prepackaged and processed or boxed foods.

Plan Your Meals In Advance

Planning out your meals in advance will help you shop for the right ingredients but also will give you a sense of control as you tackle yeast free eating. Avoid running into a situation where you are hungry and have to think up what to cook. Yeast free eating requires planning ahead. Find a yeast free recipe cookbook or compile recipes from online to help get your meal plan together.

Stay Motivated On The Yeast Free Diet

Remember why you are doing this by focusing on the benefits of a healthier body with fewer aggravating symptoms. Join a group either online or with some friends to help hold yourself accountable and make the challenge seem more like a team effort. Communicate about your progress and celebrate any improvements you make.

By planning ahead you will set yourself up for the support you need to make the diet a success.

Blessings,
