Going through a yeast free diet cleanse can be tough but it is important to embrace the process or you will struggle. It is summertime so enjoy the fresh vegetables from the garden and really taste your food. Enjoy the diet and all the natural foods you are eating.

As you progress through the diet you will start to notice your taste buds becoming more acute to certain tastes as you begin to filter out alot of the seasonings and sugar that would typically mask the natural flavors. You will be surprised how acutely you will begin to taste the subtle flavors in your food and realize how over-seasoned most things really are.

To help keep you going I have below one of my favorite veggie juice recipes that is both refreshing and satisfying…I know you will love it.

Revive Alive

This refreshing blend of cleansing beet, sweet carrot, and succulent cucumber makes this one of our favorites.

½ beet

½ cucumber

4-5 carrots

Candida Diet Cleanse

It is day 3 of the Candida Diet cleanse and I thought I would share a couple Candida Diet recipes that I have already used to get my yeast free diet off to a delicious start. Getting a good list of Candida Diet recipes lined up prior to starting the diet will make a big difference in how long you can go and whether you will be able to successfully complete the cleanse.

Salmon is a delicious change of pace and is one of my favorite Candida Diet recipes. Serve with green beans and squash or your vegetable of choice for a healthy yeast free meal that will leave you satisfied.

Baked Salmon

Salmon pieces (whatever quantity desired…roughly ½ pound per serving)

2 tbsp light tasting olive oil

1/8 tsp salt

1/8 tsp pepper

1/8 tsp basil

1/8 tsp parsley

1/8 tsp paprika

Bake at 375 for 9-14 minutes until it flakes and changes color.

Another of my favorite Candida Diet recipes both on and off the diet is stuffed bell peppers. The bell pepper and onion provide just the right balance to the meat and tomato. I have already enjoyed this meal for dinner and again with leftovers for lunch!

Stuffed Bell Peppers

6 medium green peppers

1 pound lean ground beef

½ c chopped onion

1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, undrained

3 tomatoes, diced

1 tsp chili powder

½ tsp salt

¼ tsp pepper

Cut tops off peppers and remove seeds. Place in large pot, cover with water and boil about three minutes until crisp-tender. Drain and rinse in cold water, set aside. In a large skillet, cook beef and onion, drain. Add beans, tomato and seasonings. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer 5 min. Spoon into peppers and place on an ungreased baking dish. Cover and cook at 350 degrees for 20-25 min.

The Candida Diet can be tough to accomplish when you are used to eating lots of sweets and snacks. What helps me is to find yeast free alternatives to my favorite snacking foods that I can eat when the cravings hit. While it definitely isn’t the same it does help to curb the cravings and get over the hump. Some alternatives I use are below:

- Carob covered almonds instead of chocolate.

- Vanilla rice milk instead of dairy milk.

- Hummus instead of bean or sour cream dip.

- Plain popcorn instead of an alternative snack.

Candida Diet Recipes

Candida Diet recipes make a world of difference in how you feel on the yeast free diet. Because I failed miserably on my first attempt at the diet and I nearly starved before quitting I put together a resource that I now use every time I do the yeast free cleanse. The Yeast Diet Cookbook & Meal Planning Guide is my collection of over 165 recipes for breakfast lunch and dinner that are yeast free and delicious. You can read more about it here and for the first 3 people to comment on this blog post I will send a copy of the e-book to you at no charge to help with your yeast free cleanse.

Blessings and health!

Okay yeast fighters – one week left before our group cleanse begins on July 6th. If you are just now reading this it isn’t too late to start preparing for the 3 week yeast free diet we are tackling as a group.

In the last article we talked about using up your food stores that you can’t eat on the yeast free diet, like sugary sweets and processed foods. Continue using up those things this week and plan to finish off your fruit and dairy this week as well. We also discussed ordering your supplements and I listed what supplements I will be using. If you missed it you can find that post here: http://www.theyeastdiet.com/blog/?p=51

This week I want to focus on meal planning for the 3 weeks since that is really the key to a successful yeast free diet. I have below my three weeks worth of meals so you can see how I have each meal planned. This doesn’t account for leftovers so you may not need to cook every meal but I would rather over-prepare (I am such a planner ).

3 Week Meal Plan

Don’t get overwhelmed with the planning process – have a little fun with it and use it as a time to really invest in your health. Get some ideas of the meals you would like to prepare and take your list with you to the grocery store this week. Having the meals planned will make shopping a thousand times easier (trust me).

If you want to see my full 3 week menu plan or use it as a cheat sheet for your own click on the link below to download (and save) the PDF of the meals I will be using for the upcoming cleanse. 3 Week Meal Plan

Yeast Free Diet Cleanse Group Challenge – July 6 through July 26, 2010

We are exactly two weeks away from our group yeast free diet cleanse so I wanted to share my personal process with you and how I plan the detox. A big “shout out” to all our Facebook group members who are participating in the cleanse with us. For those of you who are new to the yeast free diet my biggest recommendation is always advanced planning to ensure success……after all you wouldn’t go on a trip without making any preparations and likewise you shouldn’t dive into a new diet routine without planning ahead.

Two Weeks Out Yeast Free Diet Preparations:

Start using up the foods that you will not be able to eat on the yeast free diet including sweets, sodas, and processed foods. The detox will go much smoother if you are not constantly tempted by sweets lurking in the pantry. Dairy and fruit can wait until next week before you need to start thinking about using them up.

Familiarize yourself now with foods you can eat on the diet and make a one week meal plan (or go ahead and plan all three weeks if you’re up to it). You can view the guidelines I use at yeast diet guidelines. I had trouble coming up with meal ideas the first time I did the diet so I put my favorite yeast free meals in a cookbook (e-book) resource that is available on the site here. It is not a requirement for the diet but in my opinion is well worth the $17 price tag not to spend hours looking up recipes online. If you want the recipes but just can’t afford it contact me and we will work something out. Next week I will post my three week menu to share ideas.

Go ahead and buy your supplements. Supplements are key to the detox as they help kill the Candida overgrowth and flush it out of the system. Find supplements from a licensed homeopath, a health food grocery store or from a reputable source online. There are many choices here so it is best to talk to your doctor about what would be the right protocol for you. A great online source for the recommended supplements is www.iherb.com. If you have any problems finding the supplements you need please let me know and I will forward the contact information of my licensed homeopath in NC that can ship them within the U.S. *Always consult a medical professional and read the labels for any restrictions that may affect you or your condition prior to starting a supplement regimen.

The following supplements are the combination that have worked well for me in the past and that I will use again for this upcoming cleanse:

- SF722—a derivative from the castor bean plant available by Thorne.

- Citricidin—grapefruit seed extract; antimicrobial to help against parasites and fungi including Candida.

- Coptis and Spilanthes—potent herbs that combat fungal growth.

Start making your preparations to join us in the yeast free diet group cleanse starting July 6th!!!

To your health!

It seems like there are always a handful of food groups that come up in the course of preparing for a Candida cleanse and we get a lot of questions about flour, corn, tomato, lemons and limes, certain spices, potato, etc. and what is acceptable for the diet versus what should be avoided.

It is hard to come up with a single list of food guidelines that encompasses everyone’s needs which is why this varies a little from person to person (and website to website). Our philosophy and cookbook recipes are geared toward individuals who are experiencing the most common symptoms of yeast overgrowth but others with chronic conditions need to use their best judgment and the recommendations of their medical practitioner for certain ingredients or food groups that may need to be avoided in addition to the standard restrictions.

In general the main things to avoid are all sugars and all dairy foods as these directly feed yeast and make it impossible to regain the balance of healthy bacteria in the body. Listen to your body and if your symptoms don’t improve within a week or you eat something and you feel worse, then remove it from your diet and try to reintroduce it again after 2-3 weeks.

For most people it is not so important to get hung up on the few items that everyone disagrees on because if you are doing everything else right and taking a good probiotic then you are moving in the right direction to regain your health. If after a few weeks you haven’t seen the results you want you can always get more strict and see how your body responds.

There are people with definite sensitivities to wheat, gluten, tomato, and other food types that a doctor will be able to help identify so that you can avoid those as part of your particular diet. Since we are not medical practitioners we ALWAYS defer to each person’s medical professional to determine what sensitivities that need to be accounted for and we always recommend consulting with your doctor prior to starting any new diet.

Once you are ready to get started we recommend the cookbook of yeast free recipes to make your diet go smoothly by taking the work out of thinking through what to cook on the diet. Best of luck to all the yeast fighters out there!

The Candida Diet is a natural cleansing diet aimed at reducing yeast overgrowth in the system.

The name comes from the type of yeast called Candida Albicans which is commonly found in the human body in sub-toxic quantities. Eating too many processed foods can lead to an overgrowth of Candida Albicans yeast as can taking antibiotics, using birth control pills, or having chemotherapy all of which can kill off the healthy bacteria that lives in the human body.

When the healthy bacteria is killed off the balance between the bacteria and the naturally occurring yeast is lost and the Candida yeast grows unchecked. Many symptoms have been tied to yeast overgrowth such as headaches, constipation, bloating, gas, joint aches, depression, recurring yeast infections, lack of concentration and more.

One of the best ways to get back the healthy balance in the body is to start eating right by eliminating the yeast containing foods like most breads and to stop eating sugar in any form. There are supplements that can be taken to help expel the extra yeast from the system as the diet progresses and this may speed the recovery period.

Many people tell us that the hardest part about the yeast free diet is figuring out what to eat that doesn’t have yeast and that does not contain any sugar. Meal planning can become a chore and can lead to giving up before the body has a chance to recover.

Finding yeast free recipes and planning meals in advance is the key to reclaiming your health. One of our favorite yeast free recipes is the Herb Roasted Chicken recipe we have listed on the website. Get the delicious Herb Roasted Chicken recipe and several other yeast free recipes by visiting the website at http://www.theyeastdiet.com/yeast-free-recipes.html or join our newsletter to have them sent right to your inbox. Here’s to your health!

Candida yeast overgrowth is just such a factor! Symptoms can be seemingly non-existent, mild—gas, bloating, skin problems, or severe—headaches, vaginal yeast infections, thrush, weak immune systems, etc. In addition to adverse health effects directly related to yeast overgrowth, it can cause sugar cravings because yeast feeds on sugar. As it coats the intestinal tract, it also can interrupt nutrient absorption, creating a need to consume more food!

How To Deal with Yeast Over the Holidays

The holidays seem to bring out the best and worst in people and in our health. Naturally no great holiday celebration would be complete without turkey and gravy with stuffing and more gravy as well as some mashed potatoes with (of course) even more gravy on top of that!

Overeating and especially overeating on sweets through the holiday season can cause many of the symptoms commonly associated with yeast overgrowth to appear. Constipation, bloating, achy joints, etc…can be a flag that there is too much yeast in your system.

“With the holidays so close how should I deal with all the food?” Well not all holiday foods are bad for you if you are on the diet or planning to do the diet cleanse. Meats and vegetables are great and are a part of the “accepted foods listing”, however all the sweets and desserts (including fruit) are off limits. If you are in the middle of the diet stay strong and don’t blow the whole thing for one or two days. While a small slipup will not ruin it for you don’t use the holiday as an excuse to overindulge.

If you haven’t started the yeast diet cleanse yet you may want to wait until after the holiday to ensure you won’t be tempted to quit before your finished. Make it part of your New Years Resolutions and start it off right. If your spouse will do the diet with you that could add the extra support you need to make sure you finish. Make it a game or a competition in some way (if that motivates you). If you are planning on waiting until after the New Year celebrations, start planning now by getting the necessary supplements and begin your meal planning so there are no setbacks once you start.

Take action on your plans for a healthier you but start today. Start planning out your grocery list and go ahead and purchase your supplements but take action now. Even if it is just to plan your steps make sure you begin with a plan and finish with success.
